Remember You’re a MASON

When the pressures of recession, Make us concentrate on greed,

Take heed, a worthy Mason cares about another's needs;

Don't let pressures of the moment make your obligation sway,

Stop and help a fallen brother, or another by the way;

What you give is like a bubble - Whenever you assist,

What it costs in time and trouble is, soon after, never missed;

Brother, bear that obligation YOU accepted on your knee,

It's in direct relation to your own security;

Never hesitate, my brother Square your actions now and say,

"I'll remember I'm a Mason, and behave like that today;"

"With regard to human kindness and the 'Golden Rule', I pray,

I'll remember I'm a Mason... And behave like that today."

Greetings from the EAST

Greetings Brothers,

Another month has passed us by and we’ve been very busy.  I’d like to take the time to congratulate all the new Master Masons on receiving their 3rd degree.  I know that this Lodge, and myself, are very proud of your progress and your dedication.  This Lodge, and its Officers, are dedicated to your continued Masonic education and growth.  Any questions you may have and any help you may need is available, all you have to do is ask.

I’d like to thank all the brothers for their help in preparing this lodge and organizing things so that we may effectually and efficiently conduct our Ritual work and serve our craft as it deserves to be.  As you may have noticed our attendance is up and we continue to have visiting brethren come and participate in our Ritual work.  I feel this is a direct result of our labors and word of our friendship, fellowship and brotherly love is spreading.

 So keep up the good work, we still have much to accomplish, we still have much work to do.
                                              WB George K. Graham Jr. W.M.

Writings from the WEST

Brothers, Family and Friends,

Another busy month here at Golden Ark, and by the looks of things, there are more to come. Our Senior Warden Dinner will be held on May 12th, here at Golden Ark. Joining us will be Allen Park Key #580, Westgate-Cyrus #520, and Sunlight #600 Lodge. We will have an EA Candidate that evening, and Lodge will open at 5:30 PM. This will be a SW night, so all of the work will be performed by the SW’s from all the visiting Lodges. Please be sure to attend and show your support for not only myself, but all of the other Brothers from the area. The Dinner will be catered by Br. Randy, of Allen Park Key, and will consist of his world famous stuffed pork chops.

Br. Russell Ouellette jr. – Senior Warden

salutations from the SOUTH

Greetings from the south Brothers, Spring is near and the temperature is warming, which means more people are starting to get out and about more.  I’m going to try something new this summer. I would like to put on a charity archery 3D shoot at my archery club. With enough brothers this would be a 3-4 person scramble (like in golf) with a BYOB Barbecue at the end. It will more than likely be on a Saturday evening or Sunday afternoon. I'll also be contacting other lodges to join us. All will be welcome even if you don't shoot you'll be able to come join in the Barbecue. So dust off those Bows and look for a sing up sheet later this month at the lodge. Don’t forget that our Annual Picnic will be held on August 23rd at the Taylor Jay Cee Park – Be sure to Mark Your Calendar.

 Until next Month, enjoy the pre-Spring weather.

Secretary Scribbles

Brothers, Family, and Friends,

Greetings to all! Hope that everyone is doing well! We have had a VERY busy past few months which resulted in 8 new Brothers being raised! All of these Brothers have shown interest in learning more about Freemasonry and its’ teachings, as well as properly learning the ritual, signs, and protocol of the Lodge. Please be sure to welcome these new Brothers and let them know that they are part of our Masonic Family. Also be sure to help them in their quest for further light.

As of this writing, there are still 60 brothers that have yet to pay their dues. If the dues are not paid by June’s Business Meeting, a motion will be made for suspension, and their names, once again, will be given to the Delinquent Dues Committee for follow up. Certified letters will then be sent, at a cost of over $5.00 EACH LETTER. Please send in these dues ASAP.

I would like to thank those Brothers that have donated some of the needed items to our Lodge, as well as a few books for our lending library. Also to those Brothers that donate their time and energy to the upkeep of the Lodge- Br. George Adkins, Br. Jim Thomas, Br. Bud Linne, Br. James Collier, Br. Chip Pepiton, and WB Alex Chapman. These Brothers continually remind us of what it means to be a Mason.

Until next month

WB John R Miller - Secretary

A young man went for an interview for a job. Knowing that the Boss was a prominent Mason he decided to use his position as a newly raised MM to see if it would help him get the job. Off he went with Masonic ring, cufflinks, and tie to the interview. He stood erect and took three steps forward to shake hands (YES, that one) with the prospective boss. All though the interview he dropped into the conversation as many references to masonry that he could. At the end the Boss said, "So, if I offer you this position, what do you expect as a package?" The chap thought that his luck was on, and so he said, "A $350,000 per annum and six weeks holiday." To which the boss replied, "We will halve it, and you begin!"

Often, we as Masons take our privileges for granted and we fail to appreciate what we have. For the small investment of our annual dues and per capita assessments we have:

ü membership in the largest and most dedicated fraternity in the world,

ü the greatest security for ourselves and our wives that concerned brotherly love can provide:

- a Michigan Masonic Home which provides us, our spouses and our widows with one of the best continuing-care retirement communities in

the state of Michigan with an abundance of activities, services, and fellowship,

- the same Home which also provides a nursing care facility second to none with a devoted staff and loving care,

- all of this even if we are destitute,

ü a welcome in Lodges the world over where brotherly love and affection is ours for the taking,

ü wherever we travel, we have an enormous number of Brothers looking out for us,

ü on the highway (assuming our car has a visible square and compasses) assistance from a man we can trust,

ü our word accepted for the truth wherever we find ourselves,

ü help from a Brother going the extra mile, even if he was a total stranger a minute earlier,

ü publications in our homes that bring inspiration, patriotism and truth to the entire family,

ü the knowledge that we have much in common with those who led this country to greatness,

ü a good feeling about our part in providing significant Masonic charities for the needy everywhere - scholarships through the Masonic Foundation and our Lodges, aid to those afflicted with Juvenile Diabetes, alcohol and drug abuse prevention programs in our schools, schizophrenia research, and Eye Foundation, dentistry for the handicapped, aid for the cerebral palsied child, totally free children's hospitals and burn centers - to

name but a few, and

ü unsurpassed opportunities for leadership training, management experience and personal growth.

WHO ARE THE MASONS?

Masons are men who have decided they like to feel good about themselves and others. They care about the future as well as the past, and do what they can, both alone and with others, to make the future good for everyone.
Many men over many generations have answered the question, "What are the Masons?" One of the most eloquent was written by the Reverend Joseph Fort Newton, an internationally honored minister of the first half of the 20th Century and Grand Chaplain, Grand Lodge of Iowa, 1911-1913.
