 FOOD FOR THOUGHT

I’m the guy who asked to join your organization. I’m the guy who paid his dues and fees to join. I’m the guy who stood up in front of you and promised to be faithful and loyal

I’m the guy who came to your meetings and no one paid attention to me. I tried several times to be friendly to some of the fellows, but they all had their own buddies to sit with and talk to.

I sat down several times, but no one paid attention to me. I hoped, very much, that someone would have asked me to take part in a fund-raising project or something, but no one noticed my efforts when I volunteered.

I missed a few meetings after joining, because I was sick, and could not attend. No one asked me at the next meeting where I had been. I guess that it didn’t matter very much to others whether I was there or not.

The next meeting, I decided to stay home and watch TV. The following meeting, again, no one asked me where I was when the last meeting was held.

You might say that I am a good guy, a good family man who holds a responsible job, loves his community and his country. You know who else I am?

I’m the guy who never came back.

It amuses me when I think back on how the heads of the organization and the members were discussing why they were losing members. It amuses now to think that they spend so much time looking for new members, when I was there all the time.

All that they needed to do was make me feel needed, wanted, and welcome

MESSAGE FROM THE EAST

Brethren, Family and Friends,

I hope that this letter finds you all hale & hearty. I would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone for the participation, planning, and success of the 2008 officers’ installation ceremony and dinner. My sincere THANKS and admiration to WB Walt Mahan and all of the installing staff for making this a most memorable and inspiring event.

We have ritual work this month, as well as next. We will also need to start planning for all of the events that we wish to hold this coming year. I will be scheduling an officers meeting in the very near future.

Again, THANK YOU ALL for your support and efforts, knowing that this will be a successful Masonic Year!

Fraternally Yours,

George K Graham jr

Worshipful Master

TIDINGS FROM THE WEST

Brothers, Family and Friends,

It is a new year here at Golden Ark, and it looks as though it will be another busy one. I am looking forward to going to as many dinners on the Senior Warden circuit that I am able to attend this year, and hope that everyone will be able to attend with me.  Please join me for the Olive Branch Senior Warden Dinner scheduled for February 8, 2008. This annual Corned Beef dinner is always a great time of fellowship. Lodge will open for the EA degree at 5:30 PM. Tickets are $15, and I will need reservations by Jan 28.

I have not yet set the date for Golden Ark’s Senior Warden Dinner, but I will let everyone know as soon as I do.

Fraternally

Brother Russell Ouellette jr

Senior Warden

GREETINGS FROM THESOUTH

Welcome Brothers, to a New Year, and, with each new year, new ideas as well. In the past, some Junior Wardens are stressed with making their wardens budget, so this year I am proposing a $3 per person donation at meals after Lodge. Rather than cookies and coffee, I would like to sustain an actual dinner after each meeting, and this can only be accomplished with your help. Please remember that after each Business Meeting, we will be having a pot luck dinner. Please bring your favorite dish to pass. If there are any special needs/requests for meals, please be sure to let me know so that I can accommodate.

At the request of some of the Brothers, I will be trying to post a menu for the MM dinners. Please try to provide me with a head count the week before, so that we can properly plan. This months dinner will be on Jan 29. Menu will consist of pork tenderloin with gravy, chicken breast in gravy, wild rice, peas, salad, rolls, and banana pudding. Please come and join us for this evening of fellowship with our new brothers and their families.

Our annual picnic will be held on Saturday August 23, 2008 at Taylor Jay Cee Park. Mark your calendars now and plan on a great day of fellowship.

Brother James – Jesse - Johnson

Junior Warden

Letter From The Secretary

Brothers, Family and Friends,

The revised By-Laws were approved at the October Regular communication, and have already been approved by MWGM Ira S Slaven. Those whishing to obtain a copy are invited to contact me via e-mail, U.S. Mail, or telephone.

Please note that there has been an increase in the dues amount this year. This slight increase will enable Golden Ark Lodge to continue to serve its’ members in the effective and efficient way that they deserve. Dues notices were sent out during the last week of October. When paying your dues, please remember to return the entire form along with your payment. I will stamp it as "PAID" and return it, along with your dues card, for your records. Thank you all for your continued support. Thank you to all that have already paid their dues. At the time of this writing, there are still 169 members still owing.

Those of you with Internet access, please take a look at our updated web-site – www.goldenark.mimasons.com – We have added a few new items for your enjoyment and Masonic education.

In October, Golden Ark Temple Association agreed to donate the hall to Cub Scout Pack 818 of Taylor. We have also Chartered this Cub Scout Pack. These kids are having a great time. If you get a chance, please come down on Tuesday evenings (6:30 - 8:00 PM) and show some support for these scouts.

Until Next Month

John R Miller
