MESSAGE FROM THE EAST

Brethren, Family and Friends,

WOW what a month!!! This month has been extremely busy. Meetings and traveling to other lodges, parties, dinners, breakfast how exciting. I want to thank everybody who attended our first breakfast on March 11th, what a fantastic turnout. We had close to 90 people attended which is a great start to achieving our goal. All the volunteers who donated their time and talents deserve a huge round of applause for a job well done. Thank you all again. Due to the fact that Easter falls on the 2nd Sunday of the month this year we will hold our next breakfast on APRIL 15TH which is the 3rd Sunday, so mark your calendars. Please come out and support our efforts to raise the money needed to put lights in our parking lot.

March 17th, we had our annual ST. PATRICKS day party, which was a great time. The food was awesome as usual, and as usual, W.B. Kevin Dobbins and his wonderful wife Betty again provided us with a meal that was out of this world. I would like to thank W.B. Kevin and Betty for all they have done and all the support they continue to show this lodge. I’m sure that W.B. Kevin and Betty would like to thank everyone who helped them prepare all the food and who set up the hall and made this event a success. Once again W.B. Kevin has shown his support by donating all the proceeds of this event to the lighting of the parking lot fund raising effort. This year through his generosity, W.B. Kevin has donated $1,173. This was in conjunction with all the efforts of the 50/50 and raffles we held. I also want to thank everyone who donated prizes for the raffle, especially brother Bud Linne who once again loaded our tables with hand crafted items made by him.

Again I want to thank everyone who continues to come and support our efforts to improve OUR lodge. With help and support from everyone, we can do anything.

We do have work for April, so study those ritual books. Keep up the good work.

                                                               Fraternally Yours,

                                                               William J. Clawson

Letter From The Secretary

Brothers, Family and Friends,

Greetings! Spring has finally sprung! The weather is changing—of course, this is Michigan, so if you don’t like the weather, just hang around, it’ll change (HA HA)- the birds are singing, and …… well, you know the rest. It sure does feel good to step outside and not have to wear 3 layers of clothes.

Our first breakfast was a great success. THANKS to all that were able to attend, and Special THANKS to all of the Brothers and their wives that did all of the food preparations. Be sure to mark your calendars for the 2nd Sunday of every month to come and join in the fellowship and help us put lights in the parking lot.

Brothers, I have just sent out the 3rd notice to those who have not yet paid their dues. Please get these in as soon as possible.

April looks as though it will be another busy month, Hope to see you all on the sidelines.

Until Next Month

John R Miller

Rough, Dull and Dirty

King Solomon was presiding over a feast celebrating the laying of the
cornerstone of his Temple.

He arose and called to the Entered Apprentices asking, “What is great,
judicious and distinct in architecture?”

The Overseer of the Work answered: “A solid cornerstone.  Smooth
ashlars.  Properly laid out work.”

“What say the Fellow Crafts?” asked Solomon.

After deliberation, they answered: “Plumb walls, a level floor, square
corners.”

“How about the Masters? Surely they know.” called Solomon once more.

The Chief Architect arose and answered: “Well-drawn plans.  Correct
placement of the parts of the building.  Appropriate decorations and
detail-work.”

King Solomon then said, “It is good.”

He continued, “Master Hiram, you have been quiet.  What is your
answer?”

Hiram answered: “Rough stones. Dull tools. Dirty aprons.”
