Brethren, Family and Friends,

I am pleased to say that the beginning of this year is off to a great start. At the time of this writing we have already passed 2 new brothers to the degree of Fellowcraft and see no reason for them not to be raised to the sublime degree of a Master Mason. Brother Jason Graham and Brother William Bentley Jr. welcome to the Fraternity. I hope you both will continue in getting out of it, what you put into it. We have a great bunch of guys that have a lot to offer, so take advantage of it. Your Masonic journey has just started and you have a long way to go, and believe me, it will be well worth it the further you advance. This is a great organization and I am proud to be a part of it. February is going to be just as busy, we have 2 more candidates to become Masons. Keep up the great work brothers and before you know it , the year will be over .I would like to see more brothers show up on Lodge night , to support  the Lodge,  the brothers that come week after week and the new brothers coming through.

Plans for party’s and fund raisers will be forthcoming.

TIDINGS FROM THE WEST

Hele Brothers,

Great job and turn out for the Master Mason degrees and dinner.  I know we made a special memory for our new Master Mason Jason Graham.  There’s lots of activities coming up.  The fund raiser for Mark Ford, the Mason of the year dinner for Brother Bud Linne and the St. Pat’s party just to name a few.  Plus with new candidates next month, the Lodge is moving in the right direction towards a great Masonic year.

There will be a Senior Warden’s dinner Friday February 9th at the Olive Branch Lodge. Corned Beef and Cabbage is on the menu.

Stay busy, Stay involved.

Sincerely and fraternally

Brother George Graham

Senior Warden

GREETINGS FROM THESOUTH

Brothers,

January was a very good month.  We brought in two new brothers and have two more candidates for February.

Just a reminder February 10th will be our Mason of the year party for Brother Bud Linne.  Congratulations to him.  Cost will be $15 per person, doors open at 6 and dinner is at 7.

February 5th business meeting will have a pot luck dinner.  Please bring a dish to pass.

Master Mason dinner (February 26th)  menu will be Swedish meatballs and Roast beef.  Remember, if you reserve a spot you are still responsible for those tickets.

Until next month

Fraternally Yours

Brother Russell Ouellette Jr

Junior Warden

DID YOU KNOW…

...Freemasonry in its present form dates to 1717. Although there is one lodge in Scotland with records back to 1599 and some vague references to various manuscripts which mention ‘masons’ going back to the 1300s, the organization today dates from the creation of a Grand Lodge by three lodges of ‘speculative’ (as differentiated from ‘operative’) Masons in 1717.

...A fair number of those who were leaders in the Revolutionary War – on BOTH sides of the conflict – were Freemasons. While Washington and Franklin certainly were Masons, Charles Carroll (identified as the last of the 56 signers) was not. (Because he was present at a Masonic cornerstone laying, it has in the past been surmised that he might have been but there is no evidence of this whatsoever.) It is NOT true that all of Washington’s Generals were Masons. And NOT all of the signers of the Declaration of Independence or the Constitution were Masons.

...The Masonic emblem – the square and compasses - does NOT universally have the letter “G” in its center. In fact, outside of the US, it’s almost never found except when it’s been imported from America in some way. Beyond that, it’s a fairly recent innovation and first began to appear sometime around or immediately after the US Civil War.

Letter From The Secretary

Brothers, Family and Friends,

What a great start to the year!  Two candidates in January and two more scheduled for February.  All of the Officers have been doing a great job of learning the ritual and are taking the time to help and coach each other.  Keep up the good work.

February 3rd we have a spaghetti dinner fund raiser for Mark Ford. Mark is 12 years old, and has a rare skin disorder called Epidermolysis Bullosa which is characterized by the presence of extremely fragile skin and recurrent blister formation, and requires constant medical care and attention. This condition is not contagious.  Please show your support for this family. Dinner will be served from 2:00—7:00. Donations can be made to Golden Ark or directly to the Ford family. Please contact me for more information.

Brothers we have received just about half of the dues so far.  Please remember to send them in as soon as possible.  When sending your dues, please return the complete notice. I will mark it as paid, and return it to you. By doing this, you can help save some time, as well as make things a bit easier for the secretary— he is getting older!  Second notice will go out shortly.

Once again, I would like to ask for some feedback on the electronic version of this publication. Please let me know if you would rather receive this via e-mail only, or if you would still like a hard copy.

Until Next Month

John R Miller
